After reading Frank in the River I was a bit disturbed and
confused about what was going on in the story. The comic starts off simple
enough with a curious character. Frank seems to be looking for something when
he comes across a garden. Once in the garden he gets spooked and hides behind a
structure that he accidentally knocks over. The structure breaks the wall and
he has to pay to repair it.

So to get the money to repair the wall, Frank gets a job as a janitor
and works for this strange pig man. As he's cleaning he comes across a tall
fountain of some sort. He looks at the fountain and wonders about what could be
inside. However, the comic gets stranger as Frank goes to work the next day. As
Frank is sweeping he notices a bunch of weird creatures coming out from the
lake. For a wordless novel with cartoons one would believe this is for children
but, the notion is thrown out the window when Frank is fight the creatures.
Personally I was not expecting all the blood and graphic visuals as Frank
fought for his life. In a way the graphic imagery shows that not everything
colorful and bright is for children.
